CyanogenMod 7.2 release candidate now live with support for 69 Android devices

The first major CyanogenMod release of the year is upon us, as the leading custom Android firmware launches the first release candidate (RC) build for version 7.2. CM release candidates are generally considered stable enough for regular use, and are intended to flush out the last remaining bugs before the final release. 

In addition to the large jump in the number of supported devices, currently at 69 for the new release candidate, CM 7.2 adds bug fixes and new features. These include a few which have back-ported from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Others, such as the T9 predictive phone dialer, are found in manufacturer ROMs but not stock Android.

CyanogenMod 7.2 is still based on Gingerbread, so the list of supported devices focuses on phones and tablets running Android 2.3.7 or older. CyanogenMod 9, the next major version, is based on Android 4.0. Early nightly builds of CM9 are available for a few devices, including theGalaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.

Samsung Flexible AMOLED Galaxy Skin Android Smartphone will be available in mid-2012 (Photos)

Remember those Samsung flexible and Unbreakable AMOLED displays? As the specs were suggested, Galaxy Skin  4″ flexible Super AMOLED display (480×800), a 1.2 GHz processor (no report on single or dual-core), 1 GB of RAM, either 16 or 32 GB of storage, an 8 MP rear camera and VGA front camera, and a 1500 mAh battery. They even mentioned the dimensions of the phone is 221x67x8 mm which is about the same dimensions as the Samsung Galaxy S II, but nearly twice as long with the fold-able Flexible AMLOED display.

For the operating system Galaxy Skin rumored to feature the next-generation Jelly Bean(Google’s next project after Ice Cream Sandwich), but a new kind of OS called Android Flexy also came out from the rumor mill.

EA Sports launches FIFA 12 and NBA Jam on Google Play

EA Sports has released two long-awaited titles on Google Play in Europe and North America today -- FIFA (Soccer) 12 and NBA Jam.

FIFA 12 is the latest in the long-running soccer football franchise, and launched on games consoles and iOS last October. The Android version originally launched exclusively on the Xperia Play last December, carrying Sony's "optimized for Xperia Play" branding. Now EA's opened things up to anyone with $5 (£4.15 in the UK) to spare and an Android 2.1+ device.

Likewise, NBA Jam is another classic franchise which has finally made its way across to Google's app store. EA promises arcade basketball action featuring all 30 NBA teams, including head-to-head multiplayer over Wifi or Bluetooth. NBA Jam is priced at $5 in North America, or £3 in Europe.
